The end of year period is usually a very
exciting time for many people across all walks of life. To some, it’s the time
to add up age, to accomplish annual ambitions, to get over the ‘it didn’t-go-well
year’ and to start anew with fresh resolutions.
To others, it’s the time of joyfully completing tasks and milestones that
were set at the beginning of the year. Jubilations
in form of end-of-year parties usually characterize this period with get-
together functions and annual general meetings to plan for the New Year ahead.

Kampala International University (KIU)
is usually not left behind when it comes to bringing together her staff community
to a joyful end of year party. This has
now been adopted as part of the University culture that gathers staff from all
the different sections to the same dining table; the administration, teaching, and non-teaching staff all congregate to
celebrate the achievements of KIU in the ending year.

On December 20th, 2017 there
was yet another end-of-year staff party at the graduation grounds fully
attended by the KIU staff community. It was around 3:30 pm when the music started playing ‘catalyzing’ the ladies
to refresh their make-up and the gents to re-polish their “Misonso” (Shoes).

Shortly after, the richly filled entertainment
programme started with Dr. Tindi and Ms. Joan Owade, the MC’s of the day
welcoming guests by dancing “Pakachini”(to the ground)!

The party was blessed to have the Guest
of Honor as the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mpezamihigo Mouhamad accompanied by his
Deputies, the (DVCs): Academic Affairs, Finance and Administration and Research
Innovation and Extension.

Music and entertainment from the most prominent talents from within the KIU community
left the staff wanting more! Among others, was a great vocalist, Mr. Farouk
Nganda whose performance prompted guests to get onto their feet.

It was then dinner time, a long awaited moment
of the party. The ushers directed staff to various serving points that were flooded with not only tasty food but also
plenty for everyone to have a double share.

The recognition of the best performing Directorates
and individuals got everyone excited. The
Directorates that were recognized and / or rewarded included Marketing,
Estates, Admissions, Finance, Customer Relations, School of Law among others.

The cutting of the end of year cake was
another highlight of the evening after which the social and dance hour was
opened by the DVC-Finance and Administration, Dr. Busingye D. Janice. The
Directors and College Principals showcased
talent by challenging the younger staff members to prove that they still had
stamina.

The
function was officially closed by the Vice Chancellor at 10:00 pm.  However, the partygoers danced and made merry until
the wee hours of the morning.
