Uganda Cranes Edge Congo Brazzaville to top Group E
Uganda is now in charge of Group E after beating Congo Brazzaville on Saturday 12th Nov. at the Mandela National Stadium. The Belgium-based striker, Farouk Miya made a very brilliant quick move to put the ball through the net in the first half of the match.
The young hero has become synonymous with scoring Uganda’s crucial goals, having also scored the only and winning goal that took Uganda through to the Nation’s Cup finals in Gabon after years of waiting.
Previously, Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredjovic, Uganda’s head coach surprisingly named a starting eleven ahead of the Congo Brazzaville match that included three defensive minded midfielders in Tony Mawejje, Aucho Khalid, and Hassan Waswa Mawanda. The adjustments paid off as Congo failed to find the back of the net.
As per the New Vision, after the game, Micho praised the team.
“I’m satisfied with the team’s performance. I really enjoy working with these players. We are not with our scoring rate but beating a team that is ahead of us in the FIFA ranking is a big result,” said the Serb.
However, he showed dissatisfaction with the Uganda Cranes fans who did not turn up for the game in big numbers.
“I expected the fans to come in big numbers especially after qualifying for Africa Nations Cup finals,” he added.
Moving forward, Micho appears confident that his boys are ready to take up Egypt. However, football die hards are scared for the cranes, because Egypt is historically great. In fact, it’s probably the best team in Africa.
